Wayne Paul Fink was born July 3, 1937, in Fairbank, the son of Gustav and Velma (Milks) Fink. He was raised on a small farm, where he learned the value of hard work and family. Wayne graduated from Fairbank High School and then enlisted in the United States Marines. After he returned from the service, Bud married Janet Glessner in 1959. They had three children together in 24 years of marriage.

Bud had a thirst for knowledge and became one of the best mechanical contractors for large heating and cooling systems in state of Iowa, working for LA Fulton & Sons and Johnson Controls. He retired early and successfully operated his own storage and real estate business. Bud enjoyed good friends along with music, fishing, tinkering, and rebuilding things. He was also a great cook and loved to make his award-winning chili.

Bud cherished his family, sometimes in “Bud” ways and was proud of his three children, Scott (Doris) Fink, Brian (Denise) Fink, and Nancy (Ken) Darsee. He was especially close to his daughter-in-law Doris and so appreciative for all their fun times and everything she did for him. Bud has 7 grandchildren, Jenna Darsee, Brandon Fink, Ben Fink, Kelly (Sam) Cox, Cohen Darsee, Ella Darsee, and Tyler Fink. He was really excited about becoming a great grandpa this year.

He is survived by his immediate family as well as two sisters, Jeannie Van Heuvelen and Charlene Tatro; along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Shirley Burco. Bud was very close to his sisters.

After a short prayer with his son, shortly before passing, he did say he saw an angel coming to get him and he saw his mom with the angel. A special thank you to the nursing team at Methodist Medical Center for their love and support in his final days.
