Vera Sophie Burrows

Vera S. Burrows, 93, of Jesup, Iowa died on Thursday morning, January 9, 2014 at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center-East Campus at Independence, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 11:30 A.M. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church at Jesup, Iowa; Officiating: Rev. Lynn C. Gardner; Visitation: from 10:00 A.M. to service time on Monday at the church; Interment: 2:00 P.M. Monday at the West View Cemetery at La Porte City, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Vera Sophie Petersen was born on May 26, 1920 at Mt. Auburn, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna (Passick) Petersen. She graduated from Mt. Auburn High School at Mt. Auburn, Iowa in 1937. Vera married Harold Ernest Burrows on September 15, 1938 at Dubuque, Iowa. She was a homemaker and also assisted her husband in farming in the LaPorte City, Parkersburg, Denver and Oran, Iowa areas. Vera was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Jesup, Iowa and had been a resident of the ABCM Rehabilitation Center-East Campus in Independence since April of 2013.

Vera is survived by:
Daughter--Eleanor (Duane) Meyerhoff of Waterloo, Iowa;
2 Grandchildren--Michelle (David) Kempf of Ramsey, Minnesota and Marsha Lynn Meyerhoff of Waterloo, Iowa;
3 Great Grandchildren--Rachel Kempf, Anna Kempf and Grace Kempf;
Brother--Lloyd Petersen of Denver, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband (Harold E. Burrows on May 14, 1998); brother (Vern Petersen) and a sister (Inez Brandthorst).
