Shirley Joan Renfrow

Shirley J. Renfrow, 83, of Maynard, Iowa, died on Saturday morning, January 15, 2011 at Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein.

Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein with Rev. Charis Combs-Lay officiating.
Memory Sharing Time: one hour before the service at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home on Wednesday.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
As a celebration of Shirley's life, the family will gather with friends at the Oelwein American Legion Hall following the service for a time of food and fellowship.

Shirley Joan Kappmeyer was born on December 2, 1927 at Maynard, Iowa, the daughter of Edward & Mattie Mae (McClain) Kappmeyer. She graduated from Maynard High School in 1945 where she had been active in various school activities including band and cheerleading. Shirley was united in marriage to Lyle Merlin Renfrow on July 28, 1946 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Maynard. She was a homemaker and later worked for the Oelwein Daily Register and the Oelwein Credit Bureau. Shirley was a former member of the First Christian Church in Oelwein. She was currently a member of the Oelwein American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She enjoyed traveling, country music, camping, crossword puzzles, television game shows and getting together with friends at the Oelwein American Legion.

Shirley is survived by her Husband: Lyle Renfrow of Maynard;
Daughter: Rhonda (Michael) Bushman of Eureka Springs, Arkansas;
Son: Randall Renfrow of Oelwein;
Daughter: Kerry (Keith) Hawe of Dallas, Oregon;
7 Grandchildren and
5 Great Grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters: Doris Wiegand and Margaret Kusack, and a grandson: Timothy Chase.
