Shirley Marie Jones

Shirley M. Jones, 65, of Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, August 14, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 19, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Paul C. McManus & Deacon Jim Patera officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.
Parish Scripture Service: 6:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

Shirley Marie Kimball was born on June 7, 1948 in Oelwein, Iowa. She was raised the daughter of Thomas Joseph & Katherine Eloise (Finch) Berger. She received her education from the Oelwein and Sumner schools, graduating from Sumner High School in the Class of 1967. Shirley was united in marriage to Robert James Jones on August 26, 1967 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids and then to Madison, Wisconsin where Shirley worked as a C.N.A. They then moved to Sumner, Iowa for 16 years where Shirley was a homemaker and mom. In 1986 the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Shirley worked outside of the home at a daycare and in telemarketing. Shirley & Bob later moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 2002 where Shirley worked in telemarketing and as a nanny until she retired in 2010 due to her health. Shirley was a member of St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church in Des Moines. She enjoyed reading, gardening, decorating her home and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Son: Thomas Jones of Lincoln, Nebraska and grandchildren: Quinton, Nicki, Mariaha and Jessica,
Daughter: Christi Jones of Omaha, Nebraska and grandchildren: Jasmine, Willie and Vania,
Son: Jesse Jones of Ankeny and
Daughter: Miranda Jones of Des Moines and grandchildren: Aaliyah and Mia.
Brother: Bob (Ellen) Kimball of Evergreen, Colorado;
3 Sisters: Marlene Moeller of Iowa City,
Connie Destival of Dothan, Alabama &
Mary (Larry) Hiemes of Arlington;
and many Nieces & Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers: Tommy Berger, Charlie Berger, Jack Kimball & Don Kimball.
