Richard L. “Dickie” Tournier, II, 49, of Hazleton, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Schmitz Funeral Home, Highway 150 South, Oelwein, Iowa, with Scott Fischer officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday and for one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Interment: Poyner Township Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Richard Leroy Tournier, II, was born September 10, 1977, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Richard & Karla (Kern) Tournier. Dickie received his education at the Independence Schools. Dickie was united in marriage to Carrie Lynn Weekley on June 17, 2000, in Waterloo, Iowa. They were blessed with two sons, Richard, III and Brandon. Dickie started his own business, DC Metals, in 2008. If you ever had a conversation with him, you knew how much pride he took in his company. It wasn’t very often you would see him without a DC Metals shirt and hat on. He took great pleasure in teaching his boys the trades of his business. Dickie was a member of the Kingdom Hall. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Dickie was a true family man. His family meant everything to him. As long as they were happy, he was happy.

Dickie is survived by his Wife: Carrie Tournier of Hazleton; 2 Sons: Richard (Hanna) Tournier, III of Oelwein & Brandon Tournier of Hazleton; Parents: Richard & Karla Tournier of Independence; 2 Brothers: Dale Tournier of Clarinda & Dean (Angie) Tournier of Stanley; 2 Sisters: Deanna Wenner (Jeff) of Oelwein & Dawn (Troy) Schafer of Independence; Mother-In-Law: Julia Weekley of Waterloo; Many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and very close friends.

Dickie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Herbert Kern & Bernice Lehmkuhl; paternal grandparents: Howard & Charlotte Tournier and his father-in-law: Jerry Weekley.
