Nancy E. Tyler, 80, of Independence, Iowa and formerly of Maynard, died peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Lexington Estates in Independence

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard, and for one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment: Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard.
A Memorial Fund has been established in her name.

Nancy Ellen Brockway was born November 3, 1945, in New Hampton, Iowa the daughter of Noel Alden and Mary Evelyn (Kimpston) Brockway. In 1964, she graduated from West Union High School in West Union, Iowa. On December 31, 1979, she was united in marriage to Raymond James Tyler in Maynard. Nancy was a homemaker and was employed for 18 years as a CNA at Prairie View, rural West Union and Maple Crest Manor in Fayette. She enjoyed watching TV, fishing, gardening, playing bingo, listening to Elvis, dancing, spending time caring for her family and going for truck rides with Ray. After Ray’s death in December of 2012, Nancy moved to Independence and enjoyed her time spent at Lexington Estates.

Nancy is survived by her children: Darren Dugan of Burlington, Dawn (Bryan) Cain of Independence and Dannette (Chris) Richmond of Ryan; 5 grandchildren; many great grandchildren with one on the way; and brother: David (Doris) Brockway of Waukon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Mike Brockway.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Lexington Estates for all the fantastic care Nancy received during her time there.
