Marvin L. Seegers, 86, of Westgate, Iowa died on Thursday morning, November 2, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 6, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein with Rev. Joshua Schunk officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
Interment: Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank, Iowa.
Memorial Fund has been established for Zion Lutheran Church.

Marvin Lorenz Seegers was born on August 13, 1931 on the family farm near Westgate, Iowa, the son of Lorenz & Leona (Schult) Seegers. He graduated from Maynard High School in the class of 1948. Marvin was a lifelong Westgate area farmer. He also was a seed salesman and supervisor for Jacques Seed and later Mycogen Seed for a total of 52 years. Marvin married Margaret M. Reinking on December 21, 1950 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate. Four children were born to this union, Holly, Gary, Julie and Kelly. They later divorced. Marvin married Mary E. (McCloud) Warnke on August 16, 1986 in Sumner, Iowa. Marvin was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein and was formerly a member of the Maynard School Board and NFO. He enjoyed tending to his cattle and tinkering on the farm, serving on the church council, golfing, fishing in Canada, going to the casino and gardening in later years.

Brother: Ronald (Beverly) Seegers of Oelwein;
Sister: Mary Jean Glass (Chuck) of Naples, Florida and many
Nieces, Nephews & Cousins.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in infancy: Harold, 2 sisters: Verla (Harold) Strosahl and Arlene Seegers and a step-grandson: Alex Warnke.
