Bachman, 89, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa; Officiating: Rev. Connie Markle; Visitation: from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:30 A.M. on Thursday; Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in rural Oelwein, Iowa A Memorial fund has been established in her name Online Obituary at: www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Mardelle Mae Michael was born on November 13, 1924 in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas James and Goldie Belle (Meyers) Michael. She graduated from Oelwein High School at Oelwein, Iowa in 1942. Mardelle married Donald Burl Maxwell Bachman on January 20, 1943 at the Methodist parsonage in Independence, Iowa. She worked in the shoe department at K Mart in Oelwein for 15 years. Mardelle was raised in the Christian church and attended the Methodist church. She participated and enjoyed the Friday night Hootenanny in Hazleton. Mardelle loved to garden and entertain. Mardelle is survived by: Son--Steve (Phyllis) Bachman of Springtown, Texas 2 Grandsons--Brant (Chrisina) Bachman of Weatherford, Texas and David (Samantha) Bachman of Azle, Texas 5 Great Grandchildren--Triston, Kaylee, Cameron, Addison and Emory Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Donald Bachman on February 8, 2009), Son (David Bachman in 1968) and 2 brothers (William Michael and James Michael).
