Louise Frieden, 92, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Sunday evening, December 11, 2016 at the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church in Oelwein, with Rev. Michael Holmen officiating.
Visitation: 4-7 P.M. on Friday, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Interment: Fairbank Cemetery, Fairbank, Iowa.
A Memorial Fund has been established in her name.

Vera Louise Frieden was born December 7, 1924 to William and Bertha (Hausler) Wierck in Fairbank, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairbank. Louise graduated from Fairbank High school in 1942. After graduation she attended Iowa Teacher's College in Cedar Falls receiving her teaching certificate. Louise taught in a Buchanan County Country School and Fairbank Elementary School for 7 years. On July 7, 1948, Verne Leon Frieden and Louise were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairbank. After marrying, Louise and Verne began farming and continued to farm west of Oelwein until retirement in 2003. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Oelwein, Iowa. Louise lived her faith, reaching out to those who were ill, lonely or in need with her garden produce, flowers, food gifts and friendship. She loved her family, giving love and support unconditionally. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting and sewing throughout her life, sharing her talents with family and friends.

Louise is survived by her 4 daughters: Kathy (Louis) Hoeck of Hazelton,
Mary (Mike) Loterbour of Rolfe,
Jani (John) Rothlisberger of Cedar Falls, and
Jeannie (Craig) Mones of Easton, Connecticut;
10 grandchildren;
13 great grandchildren;
1 sister Mary Fuller of Hampton;
and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verne on November 18, 2012; two infant grandsons; a sister Elisa Wilson; and a brother Alfred.
