Lorice Mardell Snyder Obituary (1926 - 2008)

Lorice Mardell Snyder was born September 28, 1926 at Johnstown, PA. the daughter of Leroy and Erma Blough. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1944. She went to work at the U.S. Pentagon after graduation, where she met her future husband Don Hart. Lorice was united in marriage to Donald Wine Hart on August 26, 1945 in Johnstown, PA. They made their home in Iowa where Donald attended veterinary school and later was a veterinarian in Winthrop, Iowa. Her husband Don died of war injuries after they were married about nine years. Lorice was united in marriage to Robert William Snyder on June 17, 1966 in Independence, Iowa. They made their home in Winthrop. Lorice loved being involved in numerous activities and social functions. She was a member of the Winthrop C & C Club, King's Daughters Crusaders Circle, Church of Christ United in Winthrop and the United Women's Fellowship; Red Hat Ladies, and bowling leagues. She loved to play bingo, owned and ran the Cozy Caf'e, and helped run Snyder's Bait and Tackle. She worked for the Winthrop News as a reporter, photographer, sales rep., and had a weekly column, "Potpouri". Lorice M. Snyder, 82,entered into her eternal rest on Sunday October 19, 2008 at Tempe, Arizona after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers: Myron and Glenn Blough, an infant sister, her daughter Linda Joyce Hart, and two husbands: Dr. Donald Wine Hart and Robert William Snyder. Survivors include her four children: Douglas (Linda) Hart of Tempe, AZ; Judy (Bill) Cozad of Greeley, IA; Carol Snyder (special friend Don Teahen) of Cedar Rapids; and Janice (Tim) Brown of Colorado Springs, CO; three step children: Marsha (Bo) Hill, Mike Snyder, and Bill Snyder; thirteen grandchildren: Rachel (Brandon) Tarlowski, Ben (Kelley) Hart, Darren (Hope) Baumgarner, Linda (Kyle) Hayworth, Barb (Anthony) Samuelson, Shelley Bessey (and special friend Scott Studebaker, Nathan Brown, Kevin Brown, Corey Brown, Heather (Scott) Howard, Robert Dickerson, Heidi White, and Nancy Bardin; Nineteen great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law: Mabel Dimitroff and Nancy Blough as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday October 24, 2008 in the Church of Christ United at Winthrop with Pastor Dean Schlitter officiating. Music will be provided by Anita Bowden. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at Winthrop. The family will greet friends from 4 PM until 7PM Thursday October 23 at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop and after 10 AM Friday at the Church.
