Lois A. Streittmatter. 95, of Oelwein, Iowa, died peacefully on Friday evening, August 14, 2026, at MercyOne in Oelwein.

Celebration of Life: 1-5 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Hazleton American Legion Hall, located at 105 Hayes Street West, Hazleton, IA 50641
Final Resting Place: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa.

Lois Arlene Wood was born August 24, 1930, in Churdan, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd E. and Josephine Marie (Williamson) Wood. She graduated from high school in Earlville, Iowa in the class of 1947. Lois continued her education at the Paris Academy in Cedar Rapids to obtain her cosmetology license. Lois was united in marriage to Dale Frederick Streittmatter on June 18, 1950, in Independence, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Sandra, LuAnn, Linda and Kevin. Lois was a lifelong resident of the Oelwein and Maynard area. Lois owned and operated Lois’ Beauty Shop in Oelwein from 1960 to 1996. She later worked part-time at Cardin’s Beauty Shop in Oelwein, retiring in 1998. Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club. She enjoyed sewing and baking. She was well known for bringing her buns to all family events.

Lois is survived by 3 Children: LuAnn (David) Horton of Grinnell, Linda (James) Stinger of Branson, Missouri and Kevin (Chedita) Streittmatter of Harvey, Louisiana ; 8 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; Sister: Beverly Knoploh of Faribault, Minnesota; Several Nieces & Nephews; and special friend Susan Kauten.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; Husband: Dale on April 22, 1987; daughter: Sandra Betz; brother: Delmer Wood; sister: Marjorie Herington; granddaughter: Crystal Dean; and son in-laws David Horton and Paul Betz.
