LeVerne Howard Strickell Obituary (1929

LeVerne Howard Strickell was born June 6, 1929 on a farm south of Aurora, Iowa the son of Lester Fay and Anna Kuper Strickell. He attended the local country schools at Aurora, Stanley and Hazleton. LeVerne was united in marriage to Esther Martin on June 6, 1952 at the Baptist Church in Aurora, Iowa. In 1953 LeVerne enlisted in the National Guard serving for nine years. LeVerne and Esther farmed and lived in the Stanley- Aurora area for many years. They moved to Quasqueton in 2000. Esther entered into her eternal rest January 19, 2002. LeVerne enjoyed the animals on his farm, liked woodworking, and being with his grandchildren. LeVerne entered into his eternal rest Monday March 5, 2007 in West Village Care Center at Independence following a lengthy heart disease illness. He was 77 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Esther, and one sister Genevieve Bush. Survivors include his son Steve (Susan) of Highland , Illinois; his daughter Betty (David) Wiegert of Aurora; four grandchildren: Randy Strickell of Inde. ; Crystal Strickell Crow of Inde.; Eric Strickell of Inde. ; and Michael Wiegert of Aurora; two great grandchildren: Elizabeth and Lilly Crow; one sister Dorothy Morrison of O'Fallon, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 7, 2007 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Aurora with Rev. Ron Spears officiating and music provided by organist Ann Slattery. Casketbearers will be Dick Morrison, Jim Morrison, Gary Morrison,Mark Morrison, John Kuper, and Marv Hillman. Honorary bearers will be Don Sullivan and Kenny Lynn. Interment will be in Spangler Cemetery south of Aurora. Friends may call from 5 PM until 8 PM Tuesday March 6 at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop and after 10 AM Wednesday at the Church.
