Lee W. Schoephoerster Obituary (1953

Lee W. Schoephoerster, 69, of Ottumwa, Iowa and formerly of Oelwein, Iowa died Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. A private family graveside service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein. The Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein is assisting the family. Online obituary at www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Lee William Schoephoerster was born October 22, 1953, in Oelwein, the son of Walter Edwin and Ruth Kathleen (Leaton) Schoephoerster. He attended Oelwein Community Schools. As a child, Lee was a Boy Scout and enjoyed playing Cribbage with his father. In 1985, Lee moved to Ottumwa. He was a huge believer in meditation and Yoga. Lee enjoyed cooking, long walks, taking care of his house plants, hanging out with friends, attending church functions, listening to music, going out to eat, and his cat Tommy. He was kind, gentle and had a beautiful soul. Lee was loved by many and will be truly missed. Lee is survived by his sister: Gail (Richard) Dibble of Monticello, Minnesota; brother: Jerry Schoephoerster of Tucson, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Jane Ellen Schoephoerster; sister-in-law: Ann Schoephoerster; maternal grandparents: Claude and Anna Maude Leaton; and several aunts and uncles and other relatives.
