Lauren D. German, 84, of Masonville, Iowa, died on Tuesday morning, December 29, 2020 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood with his loving family at his side. Mass of Christian Burial: 10 AM Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Edgewood, with Rev. John Haugen officiating. Visitation: 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. Saturday at the St. Mark Parish Center, Edgewood. Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery north of Masonville, Iowa. Fawcett-Schmitz Funeral Homes, Lamont, is assisting the family. Lauren Dale German was born October 30, 1936 in Monroe, Nebraska, the son of Jerome & Lillian (Pimper) German. He graduated from Lamont High School in Lamont, Iowa. Lauren was united in marriage to Jeanette Marie Reth on June 6, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville, Iowa. To this union were born three children: Donnie, Laurie and Terry. The family farmed for many years north of Masonville. Lauren moved to the Edgewood Convalescent Home in 2012. Lauren was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville. He enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, dancing and putting puzzles together. He had a passion for fixing and making things cut of metal. He was always willing to help the community and neighbors. Lauren is survived by his Son: Donnie (LeaAnn) German of Lamont; Daughter: Laurie (Cory) Davis of Strawberry Point; 6 Grandchildren: Travis (Amanda) Wellington, Jason (Sylvia) Moyle, Tanya (Chris) Moyle, Heather (Bryce) Intorf, Mitch Devlin (fiance: Cassie Vaske) & Lainey German; 8 Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers: Melvin (Shirley) German of Cedar Rapids, Steve (Janaan) German of Lamont & Greg (Lori) German of Masonville; 2 Sisters: Marlene Kortenkamp of Aurora & Sheryl Porter of Arlington and Nieces & Nephews. Lauren was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Jeanette on October 30, 2017, son: Terry, 2 brothers: Sonny German & Ivan German, a stillborn sister: Alice German and his father-in-law & mother-in-law: Emert & Dorothy Reth.
