LaFonda M. Scovel Conner-Watson, 78, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Thursday morning, September 27, 2012 at the Grandview Health Care Center in Oelwein, Iowa Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein, Iowa; Officiating: Rev. Connie Markle; Visitation: from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:30 A.M. on Monday at the church; Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in rural Oelwein, Iowa A Memorial Fund has been established in her name LaFonda Mae Scovel was born on April 12, 1934 at Arlington, Iowa, the daughter of Dayton G. and Mabel (Crane) Scovel. She attended Arlington High School at Arlington, Iowa. LaFonda married Charles A. Conner in March of 1956 in Fayette County, Iowa. She later married George P. Watson on September 16, 1972 in Fayette County, Iowa. He died in January of 2000. LaFonda was a laundry supervisor for 22 years at the Grandview Health Care Center in Oelwein. She was a member of the Oelwein American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Oelwein Meal Site. LaFonda was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed the Friday night Hootenany at Hazleton, Iowa. LaFonda is survived by: 5 Daughters--Teresa (Richard) Petsche of Wadena, Iowa Cathy Wilson of Hazleton, Iowa Julie Pierce of Rock Hill, South Carolina Amy Watson of Hazleton, Iowa Tammy Watson of Jonesville, Arkansas 10 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren Special Friend--Herald Stagman of Oelwein, Iowa Many Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her Parents--2 Husbands (Charles A. Conner and George P. Watson)--Son (Paul Watson in 2011)--3 Brothers (Ike Wirth, Jim Wirth and Irvin Scovel) and a Sister (Lena Rummel).
