Kent M. Green, 52, of Maynard, Iowa, died Saturday evening, May 2, 2026, at MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center in Oelwein, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 6:00 P.M., Monday, May 11, 2026, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa with CJ Doss officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Monday, May 11, 2026, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa.
A private family graveside will be held at Long Grove Cemetery in Maynard, Iowa.

Kent Michael Green was born October 21, 1973, in Chattanooga, Tennessee the son of David Lee and Tamra Joy (Bukatz-Schlitter) Green. Growing up his father was a journalist and minister, which took his family to many wonderful places including Maryland, Arizona, Waterloo, and Fairbank. After moving to Fairbank, Kent attended Wapsi Valley Community Schools obtaining his GED at 17 ½ so he could join the United States Army. He proudly served from 1991 – 1992 when he was discharged due to an injury. Following his discharge Kent moved to Minnesota with his brother and began working as a machinist. He later returned to the Waterloo area and began working for John Deere. On November 17, 2001, Kent was united in marriage to Erika Lou Schlitter. Together they created a wonderful, joined family and made their home in Maynard. Kent went on to work as a maintenance worker for apartment and senior care complexes. He later was a city carrier for Oelwein Post Office. He was a man who could make anyone laugh and valued every person he met. Kent enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, camping, tinkering, arguing with people on Facebook, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with his family.

Kent is survived by his wife: Erika Green of Maynard; 5 children: Sydnie (Jason) Peterson of Arlington, Lucas (Kalynn) Cavanaugh of Oelwein, Ivy (Preston Huinker) Green of Oelwein, Leah (Jared) Bird of Aurora and Noah (Brenda Gonzalez) Green of Lake Elsinore, California; 6 Grandchildren: Morgan Peterson, Madalyn Peterson, Everly Bird, Talia Bird, Charlee Cavanaugh and Sebastian Huinker; Sister: Colette (Clay) Doss of Jasper, Indiana and Aunt: Gwen Buege of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Eric “Ty” Green.
