John E. Duwe Jr., 63, of Fayette, Iowa died on Saturday afternoon, July 30, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein with Rev. William Thalacker officiating. Visitation: 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M.Thursday at the funeral home. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, rural Oelwein, Iowa. Graveside Military Rites by the Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post # 9. A Memorial Fund has been established in his name. Online Obituary at : www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com John Edward Duwe was born on April 7, 1948 at Postville, Iowa, the son of John Edward and Ruth (Hope) Duwe Sr. He graduated from Fayette High School in Fayette, Iowa in 1966. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. John was united in marriage to Lois Joy Schnor on August 7, 1976 at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. John worked at the John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo as a fork truck operator and also on the assembly line for 33 1/2 years. He was a member of the AMVETS and the American Legion. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. John is survived by his Wife: Lois Duwe of Fayette; 3 Children: John E. Duwe III of Cedar Rapids, Leroy (Suzanne) Duwe of Jesup & Craig Duwe of Independence; Step-Son: Richard Dixon of Monticello, Minnesota; 6 Grandchildren; Sister: Charlotte (Jim) Kauffman of Bettendorf and Many Nieces & Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents and a Sister (Sharon Paustian).
