Joann E. "Jo" Ries, 81, of Oelwein and formerly of Randalia, Iowa died Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette, Iowa with Rev. Jim Brokman and Rev. Dale Rausch officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:30 A.M. Monday at the church.
Rosary: 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Scripture Service: 5:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Interment: St. Francis Cemetery, Fayette.

Joann Elaine Anderson was born October 5, 1934 in Ridgeway, Iowa the daughter of Julius and Emma (Qualley) Anderson. She graduated from Ridgeway High School in Ridgeway. On August 11, 1956, she was united in marriage to Laverne Frederick Ries at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette. Jo was employed as a secretary for 33 1/2 years at the ASCA Office in Fayette. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She enjoyed working and mowing lawn. Jo was a hard worker who easily made friends.

Joann is survived by her husband: Laverne Ries of Oelwein;
2 brothers-in-law: Jack Ries of Tennessee and
Bob (Sharon) Ries of Sumner;
1 sister-in-law: Inez Delrose Brown of Oelwein; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister at infancy.
