Joan Elaine Rueber

Joan E. Rueber, 81, of Boone, Iowa and formerly of Oelwein died on Wednesday morning, April 12, 2017 at her home with her family at her side.
Graveside Service: 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed in her name to the BSV Railroad Museum in Boone.

Joan Elaine Wolf was born on March 17, 1936 in Oelwein, Iowa the daughter of Clarence Herbert & Esther Irma (Hensch) Wolf. She graduated from Maynard High School in the Class of 1954. Following high school, Joan went to work for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator in Oelwein. Joan was united in marriage to James LeRoy Rueber on September 8, 1957 in Westgate, Iowa. The family lived in Oelwein where Joan was a homemaker and continued to work for the telephone company. In 1975 Jim was transferred with the railroad to Mason City. Joan transferred with telephone company and worked there until her retirement in 1987. In 1987 Joan and Jim moved to Boone due to Jim's transfer with the railroad.
While in Oelwein, Joan was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She had attended Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. Joan enjoyed sewing, crafts, ceramics and flower arranging.
Joan is survived by her Husband: James Rueber of Boone; 2 Daughters: Deb Knebel of Tacoma, Washington & Lori (John) Tingwald of Boone; Son: James Michael (Debra) Rueber of Bellevue, Nebraska; 5 Grandchildren; 1 Step-Granddaughter; 12 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Karen (Garrett) Osborne of Mitchellville and several Nieces & Nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Delores Mahoney.
