Joan Quint Obituary (1933

Vivian Joan Brace Quint was born August 25, 1933 at Diagonal, Iowa, and the daughter of Anna (Maxine) Brace. She grew up in the Winthrop area and graduated with the Winthrop High School class of 1951. Joan was united in marriage to Howard Arthur Quint on June 19, 1951, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop. To this union were born five children: Deanna, Joseph, Denise, Jeff, and Dana. They farmed north of Winthrop for many years while raising their family, and then operated a child day care in their home. After Howard entered into his eternal rest on November 2, 1998, Joan moved into Winthrop where she continued to do daycare. In 2009, she moved to West Village Care Center in Independence, Iowa. Reading, crocheting, and cooking were some of the things Joan enjoyed. She and Howdy were members of a "500" card club with their friends for almost 50 years. She was a life-long member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Winthrop and served on many committees. At the age of 79 years, Joan entered into her eternal rest on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at West Village Care Center in Independence. Preceding her in death was her mother; her husband, Howard; her son, Joseph; and her grandson, Chancey Olsen. Survivors include her three daughters: Deanna (Clyde) Wilson of Cedar Rapids, IA; Denise (Roger) Olsen of Winthrop; and Dana (Jerry) Bostian of Oelwein; her son, Jeff (Laurie) Quint of Cedar Rapids; fourteen grandchildren: Quinton (Kristin) Wilson, Zachary (Cherisse) Wilson, Teylor (Tex) Goates, and Elliot Wilson; Cory (B.J) Olsen, and Rick, Brandin and Octavianna Olsen; Murphy, Nolan, Hunter, and Matteson Quint; and Levi and Emma Bostian; nine great grandchildren; her stepdad, James Donnelly of Winthrop; her sister, Susan Thimmesch of Winthrop; her niece, Heather Thimmesch of Winthrop and many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 1, 2012, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Winthrop with Father Donald J. Plamondon officiating. Music will be provided by Ann Slattery, organist, and the St. Patrick's Choir. Deanna Wilson will be the Lector. The Offertory Procession will be her granddaughters: Octavianna Olsen, Emma Bostian, and Matteson Quint. Casketbearers will be her grandsons: Quinton Wilson, Zachary Wilson, and Elliot Wilson, Cory Olsen, Rick Olsen, Brandin Olsen, Murphy Quint, Nolan Quint, Hunter Quint, and Levi Bostian. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery near Winthrop. Friends may call from 2:30 P.M. until 6 P.M. Sunday, September 30, 2012, and until 10 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2012, at Fawcett's Funeral Home in Winthrop with a Scripture Service starting at 2:30 P.M. Sunday.
