Iva B. Flower, 96, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Tuesday morning, October 18, 2011 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday and for one hour before the service on Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established for the American Cancer Society. Online obituary at www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Iva Bernice Robinson was born on April 20, 1915 at Horton, Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver & Grace E. (Liddle) Robinson. Iva received her education from the rural Fayette County Schools. Her mother died in the flu epidemic when Iva was 13 years old. The family then moved to Oelwein where Iva worked and cared for her siblings so that her family could be kept together. Iva was united in marriage to Robert D. Flower in May of 1936 at Manchester, Iowa. Iva was a mother and housewife, raising her four children. During World War II she worked at Raytheon and after her children were raised she worked at Hub City Bakery, both in Oelwein. Iva was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Iva is survived by 3 Children: Marlis J. (Ray) Lumbus of Sacramento, California, Steven J. Flower of Oelwein; Robert L. (Joan) Flower of Sebring, Florida, 9 Grandchildren and Many Great Grandchildren. Iva was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Robert on January 20, 1980, daughter: Barbara Phipps in 1998, sister: Elna Miles and 2 brothers: Kendall Robinson & George Robinson.
