Idell P. James Obituary (1923

Idell James was born February 2, 1923 at Dyersville, Iowa the daughter of William and Elizabeth Kruser Eike. She graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1941 and then attended Lennox College in Hopkinton for one year. Idell was united in marriage to Ted L. James on January 13, 1943 in St. Luke's Catholic Church at Hopkinton. To this union were born three children: Karen, Jim, and Gary. They lived a number of years in Ryan where Idell worked at the Creamery and then moved to Winthrop in 1961. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop where she enjoyed being a member of the Order of Martha, making prayer shawls and wrapping bandages for the missions. She was involved in starting the parish breakfasts at St. Patrick's parish in Ryan years ago. She also liked to sew, knit and crochet. She was an active golfer, bowler, and loved to play bridge. Idell entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Cletus Eike, one sister Willetta Eike White, one granddaughter Stacy James, and one great grandson Talen Youngblut. Survivors include her husband Ted of Winthrop; her daughter: Karen (Jim) Dickinson of Keota, IA; two sons: Jim (Janet) James of Winthrop and Gary (Sandy) James of Wellsburg; eight grandchildren: Travis, Jeremy, Michael, and Todd James; Terry and Tracy Dickinson; Holly Severin, and Maria Youngblut; seventeen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Winthrop with Father Donald J. Plamondon officiating. Casketbearers will be: Travis James, Jeremy James, Michael James, Todd James, Terry Dickinson, Troy Youngblut, and Jordon Severin. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Winthrop. Friends may call from 4 PM until 7 PM Monday and until 10 AM Tuesday at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop where a scripture service will be held at 7 PM Monday.
