Herschell F. Linderwell Obituary (1922

Herschell Fay Linderwell was born on a farm near Lamont, Iowa, on October 1, 1922, the son of Ernest and Sylvia Newton Linderwell. He grew up on the farm and attended the country school near his home. Herschell was united in marriage to Esther Stamp on June 14, 1947, at Independence, Iowa. To this union was born one son, Richard. They lived on farms near Lamont and Edgewood before moving to their farm near Dundee and Backbone State Park. They farmed for 30 years and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1997. Esther entered into her eternal rest on June 30, 1997. Herschell moved to Manchester in the spring of 1998 and recently to the Good Neighbor Home. Herschell loved his farm and working with his horses. He enjoyed watching wildlife, fishing, raising rabbits, socializing with friends, and telling jokes. He was proud of his grandson, Dale and closely followed his running career. Herschell entered into his eternal rest on Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a short illness. He was 83 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Esther; four brothers: Raymond, Delmer, Ernie, and Arnold; and two sisters: Delores Hillmer and an infant sister Erna Mae Linderwell. He is survived by his son Richard and wife Kerri of Dundee; his grandson Dale; two brothers: Bill (Sharon) Linderwell of Guttenberg, and Ken (Virginia) Linderwell of Manchester; five sisters: Martha Ahrens of Manchester; Irene (Duane) Weyant of Edgewood; Sylvia Bradley of Manchester; Eileen (Jim) Walsworth of Palm Dessert, CA; and Sharon (Norbert) Allen of Ringgold, GA; two sisters-in-law: Luella Linderwell of Dothan, AL and Dorothy Linderwell of Strawberry Point; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 19, 2006, in the Grace United Methodist Church at Lamont with Rev. Carroll Robinson officiating. Music will be provided by organist Karen Kremer. Casketbearers will be Lee Gourley, Kent Gourley, Steve Bradley, Aaron Linderwell, Dennis Ahrens, Gary Weyant, Jimmie Evans, and Dave Bradley. Interment will be in Campton Cemetery east of Lamont. The Fawcett Funeral Home of Lamont is assisting the family with arrangements. Friends may call from 2 PM until 5 PM Sunday and after 10 AM at the Church.
