Grace M. Griffith, 81, of Westgate, Iowa died on Wednesday evening, June 12, 2013 at Maple Crest Manor at Fayette.

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Murphy Church, rural Westgate, Iowa with Rev. Susan Friedrich officiating.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7 P.M. on Wednesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard and for one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
Interment: Greenwood Cemetery, rural Westgate, Iowa.
A Memorial Fund has been established.

Grace Martha Ware was born on July 26, 1931 in Hastings, Nebraska the daughter of John Adam "Jack" & Fannie Eliza (Vance) Ware. She received her education in Nebraska and later earned her Nurse's Aid degree. While in Nebraska, Grace worked at Frances' Cafe and the Horton Garment Factory. Grace was united in marriage to Paul Charles Griffith on August 8, 1968 at Galena, Illinois. In Westgate, Grace & Paul owned and operated the Westgate Tap & Grill, Grocery and Gifts & Goods. They enjoyed many summers at Hartman's Trailer Court at Waukon Junction on the Mississippi River. Grace was a Democratic Party Delegate, Fremont Township Trustee and Fayette County Election Board Clerk. One of Grace's fondest memories was a trip to Nashville with her daughter, Kelly. Grace was known to some as Gracie but Paul always called her Pest. Paul & Grace were blessed with 44 years of marriage. They were often seen holding hands and sneaking a kiss whenever possible like two love birds.

Step-Daughter: Kay (Dean) Rueber of Westgate;
Granddaughter: Lynne Kuennen of Decorah;
Grandson: David (Deanne) Rueber of Luxemburg;
4 Great Grandchildren: Heather & Amber Kuennen and
Dakota & Kylee Rueber;
Krystal Kuhlmann of Frederika;
Sister: Theodora "Teddy" Hinze of Oelwein;
2 Nephews: Tracy Dean (Adela) Hinze Starcruiser of Waterloo &
John L. Hinze of Oelwein and a
Niece: Georgia Cashen of Rocky Ford, Colorado.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, son: Russell Walters, grandson: Anthony Katzer, 2 great granddaughters: Mackenzie & McKenna Rueber, niece: Andrea Wildebour and a nephew: Andrew Hinze .
