Fleta Ava Luitjen Obituary (1915

Fleta Ava Luitjen was born September 11, 1915 in Wayne County, Iowa the daughter of Merle and Sophie Duff Kindred. Fleta was united in marriage to Cecil E. Luitjen on November 25, 1933. To this union were born two daughters Jean Ann and Joyce Lowe. Fleta moved to Lamont in 1985 shortly after her husband of 52 years, Cecil died on March 17, 1985. She was a very "Special Lady" who made a hand stitched quilt for each member of her family along with knitted slippers to keep their feet warm. Fleta entered into her eternal rest on Friday December 12, 2008 at her apartment in Lamont, following a sudden illness, at the age of 93. She is survived by her two daughters: Jean Bergfeld of Aurora, and Joyce (friend Russ LaFond) of Davis City; nine grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Luitjen, a son-in-law Jim Bergfeld, one brother Chet, and three sisters: Hazel Forsyth, Helen Lewis, and Bronna McLaughlin. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday December 15, 2008 in the Fawcett Funeral Chapel at Lamont with Pastor John Brockschink officiating. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Casketbearers will be Russell Holthaus, David Bergfeld, Duane Fettkether, Donnie German, Jim Hansel, Kevin Schlarbaum, Mark Fangman, Tom Lillibridge, and Dave Koch. Friends may call at the Fawcett Funeral Chapel in Lamont from 3 PM until 6 PM Sunday Dec. 14 and after 10 AM Monday Dec. 15.
