Fern Ardell Jones Obituary (1916 - 2012)

Fern Ardell Jones was born May 20, 1916 at Waterloo, Iowa the daughter of Rueben and Ethel Bishop Myers. She attended country schools near Waterloo. Fern was united in marriage to William Chauncey Jones on January 23, 1953 at Yuma, AZ. They lived at Indio, CA. and Elfrieda, AZ., where they owned and operated the Granite Parks Lodge Hotel for seventeen years. After retiring they moved back to Lamont, Iowa. William entered into his eternal rest on May 7, 1995 after which Fern moved to Strawberry Point. In June ,2012, she moved into the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. Fern liked to cook, sew, paint oil paintings, knit, crochet, and be a caregiver for family and friends. Fern entered into her eternal rest on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, a son Robert Jones,her sister Bertha Lufkin, three brothers:Floyd Myers, Bernard "Doc" Myers and Victor Myers. Her family includes her four daughters: Dorothy Linderwell of Strawberry Point, Bonita (Art) Eschen of Lamont, Charlotte (Francis) Houska of Strawberry Point, and Dawn (Arnold) Thomas of Indio, CA; her son Larry (Delores) Fowler of El Monte, CA; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont, Iowa with Pastor Al Hock officiating. Music provided by Tom Strauss. Casketbearers will be: Chad Eschen, Cory Eschen, Gregg Eschen, Schott Eschen, Rusty Fagle, Elaine Houska, and Sarah Shadle. Interment will be in Lima Cemetery near Wadena, IA. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 4 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Grace United Methodist Church (745 Washington St.) in Lamont, Iowa and after 9:30 AM Monday also at the Church.
