Elsa Mary Mueller Obituary (1925

Elsa Mueller, 91, of Oelwein, Iowa, died on Wednesday morning, September 6, 2017 at Arlington Place Assisted Living in Oelwein. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 11, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein with Pastor Joshua Schunk officiating. Visitation: from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment: Union Cemetery, Putnam Township, rural Aurora, Iowa. Elsa Mary Scharff was born on November 17, 1925 on the family farm at rural Aurora, Iowa, the daughter of Irvin H. & Elise (Garrels) Scharff. She graduated from Stanley High School. Elsa continued her education at Wartburg College in Waverly where she obtained her B.A. degree and then taught home economics in Strawberry Point. Elsa was united in marriage to Everett Henry Mueller on June 16, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. They moved to Elsa's family farm in the Aurora area where they farmed from 1951 to 2001. Elsa was a full-time homemaker and mother when her children were young. In 1963, Elsa returned to teaching home economics in Stanley and Oelwein schools, retiring in 1986. Elsa and Everett moved to Oelwein in 2001. Elsa was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, McDowell Club, Tuesday Tourist Club and the OWLS. She enjoyed sewing, reading and writing with the OWLS. Elsa is survived by her Son: James (Connie) Mueller of Oelwein; Daughter: Mary Anderson of Ames; Daughter-in-law: Susan Mueller of Carroll; 7 Grandchildren: Jeremy (Laura) Mueller of Waukee, Rachael (Jay) White of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Patrick Mueller of Chicago, Derek (Rebekah) Stickfort of Ankeny, Joshua Anderson Madison, Wisconsin, Sonya (Brian) Gustafson La Fayette, Colorado and Jared Mueller of Carroll; 6 Great Grandchildren and a Sister-In-Law: Marian Borchardt of Joplin, Missouri. Elsa was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband (Everett on October 2, 2007) and a Son (John Mueller on March 20, 2007).
