Delpha Minnie Werner Obituary (1921

Delpha Minnie (Loeb) Werner, 96, of Council Bluffs, formerly of Aurora, Iowa, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Amelia's Place Assisted Living in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Delpha was born November 29, 1921, in Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of Valentine and Lottie (Sidler) Loeb. She attended Cooper Valley Schools in Buchanan County. Delpha was married to Donald Werner on October 13, 1940, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oelwein, Iowa. They had four children: Russell, Sharon, Darrell and James. They made their home by Aurora on the family century farm and enjoyed farming together. Delpha loved cooking and baking, collecting recipes and serving many delicious meals to family and friends. Delpha touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her children: Russell (Joyce) Werner of Fremont, CA and Sharon (Larry) Reid of Council Bluffs, IA; two grandsons: Rod Werner of San Ramon, CA and Dayton Werner of Oswego, IL; three great grandchildren: Tyler, Caitlyn, and Joshua; nieces, nephews, and friends. She was prededed in death by her parents, husband Donald, sons: Darrell in infancy and James at one year, and two sisters: Dorothy Graf and Ida Mae Loeb. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oelwein ,Iowa with Pastors Rev. Josh Schunk and Rev. Jon Benson officiating. Music provided by organist Rosalind Young and vocalists David and Grant Young. Casketbearers will be: Mike Jenks, Charles Jenks, Todd Duckett, Rod Werner, Dayton Werner, and Gary Keoppel. Honorary bearers will be: Tyler, Caitlyn, and Joshua Werner. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop and after 9:30 A.M. Saturday, December 1 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, IA.
