Delmar E. Sorge, 93, of Maynard, Iowa died on Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2015 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard with Rev. Allen Biere officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday and for one hour before services on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment: Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard, Iowa. Military Graveside Rites by the Maynard American Legion. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established for the Maple Crest Manor Memory Lane and the Unity Point Hospice. Online obituary at www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Delmar Edward Sorge was born on October 10, 1921 in rural Westgate, Iowa the son of Louie Frederick & Alma (Cannell) Sorge. He graduated from the Randalia High School in the Class of 1939. Delmar served in the United States Army during W.W. II in Europe. Delmar was united in marriage to Francille Clara Hillman on January 14, 1949 in Fayette, Iowa. They farmed in the Maynard/Randalia area their entire life. Delmar raised crops, dairy cows, beef cows and hogs. He moved to Maynard in 1983 but his daily trips to the farm continued until he was over 85 years old. Delmar was a member of the Maynard American Legion. He and Francille took several trips to Nashville and Branson where they enjoyed the country music shows. Delmar most enjoyed spending time on the farm and time with his family, Left to honor his memory are his 2 Sons: Darwin (friend: Linda) Sorge of Cresco & Dennis (Kim) Sorge of Randalia; 9 Grandchildren: Todd (Renee) Sorge of Waverly, Michelle Sorge of Cresco, Nicole Sorge of Marion, Ron Caveglia of Elmwood, Illinois, Doug (Tammy) Sorge of New London, Wisconsin, Lisa (Jason) Kuhens of Maynard, Dustin Sorge of New London, Wisconsin, Sara (Ryan) Bender of Westgate & Chris (Margot) Caveglia of Boca Raton, Florida; 12 Great Grandchildren: Jett Kuhens, Bailey Caveglia, Jake Kuhens, Jared Haskin, Daniel Caveglia, Jadon Sorge, Amyah Bender, Cael Bender, Landon Sorge, Harlow Bender, Piper Sorge & Cole Sorge. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Francille on September 24, 1985 and daughter-in-law: Katie Sorge.
