Debra Ann Smith

Debra Ann Smith, 58, of Oelwein, Iowa, entered into her eternal rest on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at her apartment in Oelwein ,Iowa.

Debra was born January 21, 1958 at Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Dwaine and Donna Ekholm Smith. She spent much of her childhood at Cedar Falls, Iowa until moving to Janesville, Wisconsin where she graduated from Craig High School in 1976.

Debra enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1976 and served until her discharge in 1983. Most of her military time was spent in Germany, and Fort Carson, Colorado. After her discharge she moved to Rockford, Illinois where she worked at a Metro Concert Center. The past 20 years she lived at Rowley, Iowa and most recently Oelwein, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father Dwaine Smith and an infant sister Denise.

Survivors include her mother Donna Smith of Winthrop; two brothers: Dwaine Michael Smith of Cedar Rapids and Douglas (Brenda) Smith of Belvedere, IL; eight nieces and nephews, and an uncle David Ekholm of Rockford, IL.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Church of Christ United at Winthrop with Pastor Dean Schlitter officiating. Her cremains will be buried at a later date at Rockford, IL.

The Fawcett Funeral Home and cremation services of Winthrop is assisting the family with arrangements.
