Daniel Paul Louis Fangman Obituary (1927 - 2007)

Daniel Paul Louis Fangman was born January 15, 1927, at Dyersville, Iowa, the son of William J. and Rita Milbert Fangman. The family moved to Monti in 1937 where Dan attended the local country schools. He graduated from Winthrop Consolidated High School with the class of 1944. Dan was united in marriage to LuCean Schmit on October 9, 1948, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monti. They settled on a farm east of Monti where he remained his entire life. He farmed and was a co-founder of the Fangman-Neighbor Tiling Co. He was a long time member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monti, the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Order of Forresters. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, the Chicago Cubs baseball, and the Iowa Hawkeyes' basketball. Dan entered into his eternal rest on Monday, February 26, 2007, at his rural Masonville home from heart failure. He was 80 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Paul; his brother Bill Fangman; and his sisters: Ruth Hearn and Rosemary Offerman. Survivors include his wife LuCean of Masonville; his six sons and five daughters: Marge (Bob) Bosco of Wheaton, IL; Roger (Sue) of Rowley; Liz (Dave) Ster of Urbana; Gary (Sheila) of Independence; Barb (Dennie) Sullivan of Winthrop; Mark (Tina) of Independence; Deb (Nick) Crawford of Winthrop; Phil (Threasa) of Masonville; Doug of Cedar Rapids; Cathy (Jeremy) Banks of Masonville; and Greg (Christine) of Independence; twenty two grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his brothers: Dick Fangman of Winthrop and Jack Fangman of Edina, MN; his sister Eunice Mahoney of Independence; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 2, 2007, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Monti with Father Aloysius Vorwald officiating, Teresa Horak, organist and Kathy Wulfekuhle, soloist.Casketbearers will be:Ron Hearn, Gerald Fangman, Mike Fangman, Don Fangman, Neal Mahoney, and William Offerman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday March 1, 2007, from 2 PM until 7:30 PM at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop with a scripture service at 7:30.
