Daisey "Eleanor" Finch, 99, of Fairbank, Iowa died Monday, May 26, 2014 at Mercy Living Plus, Oelwein Iowa. Memorial Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. There will be no visitation. Inurnment: Fairbank Cemetery, Fairbank, Iowa. A Memorial Fund has been established in her name. Daisey Eleanor Lebie was born March 3, 1915 at Miles City, Montana the daughter of Henry Herbert and Daisey G. (Sanborn) Lebie. Eleanor moved to Fairbank, Iowa when she was 12 and lived with Hazel and Charlie Finch until adulthood. She graduated from the Fairbank High School in 1932. On February 14, 1936 she was united in marriage to Ivan Albert Finch at Fairbank. Eleanor was a homemaker and a cook at the Fairbank Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairbank and Eastern Star. Eleanor was an avid bird watcher who enjoyed the countryside, wild life, farm animals and volunteering in her community. She was pleased to see 50 acres of the family farm protected with conservation easments. Eleanor is survived by her son, Warren (Myra) Finch of Friday Harbor, Washington; grandson, Aaron Finch of Portland, Oregon; sister, Betty (Otto) Ocvirk of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan on July 29, 1999; son, Wendell Finch on October 9, 1966; and a brother, Donald Lebie.
