Charlotte E. Enabnit Obituary (1916 - 2006)

Charlotte E. Slattery Enabnit was born July 25, 1916, on the Slattery farm northeast of Monti, Iowa, the daughter of William and Nell Reilly Slattery. She attended the local country schools. Charlotte was united in marriage to Earl Joseph Enabnit on September 4, 1940, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monti. They farmed near Winthrop and Earl had an implement shop in Winthrop. Earl died suddenly on October 6, 1957. Charlotte continued to operate the farm for a number of years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop; the Catholic Daughters of the Americas; the Quasqueton Garden Club; and an active member of the Democratic Party. She loved to grow flower and vegetable gardens and to care for her beautiful yard. Charlotte entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at the Buchanan County Health Center Long Term Care in Independence following a short illness. She was 90 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl; and her two brothers: John and Harold Slattery. Survivors include thirteen nieces and nephews: Jeanne (Max) Nolte of Marengo; Joan (Denny) Schroeder of Denver, CO; Connie (Joel) Wiltsey of Kansas City, MO; Rose Ann (Terry) Toomey of Hopkinton; John (Ann) Slattery of Winthrop; Jim Slattery of Winthrop; Joe (Karen) Slattery of St. Louis MO; Jerry (Annette) Slattery of Winthrop; Jeff (Val) Slattery of Atlanta, GA; Ron (Bev) Slattery of Cedar Rapids; Tom Slattery of Houston, TX; Dan (Joann) Slattery of Chicago, IL; and Kenny Slattery of Masonville; twenty seven great nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 8, 2006, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Winthrop with Father Aloysius Vorwald officiating. Music will be provided by Ann Slattery and St. Patrick's Choir. Friends may call from 3 PM until 7 PM Thursday where a CDA rosary will be held at 3 PM and the Parish Rosary at 7 PM Thursday at Fawcett's in Winthrop.
