Brenda Lee (Lenius) Smith

Brenda L. (Lenius) Smith, 53, of Waterloo and formerly of Maynard, Iowa died Tuesday morning, April 15, 2014 at Unity Point - Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, after a courageous 9 year battle with cancer.

Funeral Service: 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Rev. Herbert C. Mueller III of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Westgate officiating. Visitation: 1:30 P.M. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

A Memorial Fund has been established in her name.

Brenda Lee Lenius was born September 29, 1960 at Oelwein, Iowa the daughter of Marvin Jr and Donna Lee (Dreier) Lenius. She attended the Oelwein Community Schools. On January 7, 1984, she was united in marriage to Scott Smith at Oelwein. They later divorced. Brenda was employed for many years by DHS as a caregiver for special needs children. She was also employed at the Hill Top Cafe in Oelwein. Brenda enjoyed playing cards, talking on the phone, sports, especially the Cubs and spending time with her family and friends.

Brenda is survived by her siblings, Sue (Dan) VanSkyhawk of Westgate,
Patty Wolff of Westgate, Leslie (Bylinda) Allwood of Maynard and Gayle (Chris) Heins of Luana; 2 grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Headington of Calmar;
17 nieces and nephews; and 7 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; parents, Marvin Lenius and Donna Allwood; and step-father, Gailen Allwood.
