Betty E. South, 89, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Thursday morning, June 7, 2018 at Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 11, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Oelwein with Pastor Dave Byrd officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

Betty Elaine Lillibridge was born on February 21, 1929 in Oelwein, Iowa the daughter of Claude A. & Eva V. (Lawrence) Lillibridge. Betty was a lifelong Oelwein resident. She graduated from Oelwein High School in the class of 1948. Betty married Burl Elston Doty and they later divorced. She later married Harold John South on May 15, 1959 in Oelwein. Betty previously worked at Woolworth's, school lunchrooms and as a census taker with the Assessor's office.
Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Betty was always an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed participating as well as watching her children and grandchildren. She had been active in tennis, softball, bicycling, basketball, volleyball and bowling. Betty also enjoyed collecting bells.
Betty is survived by her Son: Robert J. (Becky) South of Readlyn;
Daughter-In-Law: Bonnie Doty of Oelwein;
6 Grandchildren;
11 Great Grandchildren;
3 Great Great Grandchildren and many
Nieces & Nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Harold on May 28, 1994, son: James L. Doty, 2 grandsons: Ben Huston and Nathanial Doty, 2 sisters: Lorraine Pleis and Opal Rackow and 3 brothers: Lawrence, Harold and Jim.
