Bethaleen "Betty" Nicholson Bly Daniels, 77, of Oelwein, Iowa passed away on Wednesday morning, September 25, 2013 at Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein following an extended illness. Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Visitation: Noon to 2:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made at the Oelwein Health Care Center. Online obituary at www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Betty was the 2nd daughter of Glenn and Ruth Nicholson of Maynard. She was born September 27th, 1935 and grew up on a farm outside of Maynard. Betty attended school in Maynard - as did her sisters Lou Ann, Carolyn and Glenda and her brother Jim. Betty enjoyed athletics and excelled at playing basketball. Betty married Nathan Bly October 9, 1955. Betty and Nathan had four boys. Steve, Scott, & a fiery pair of twins - Rick & Rob. Betty worked for years at the Maynard Savings Bank & was a friend of many. Betty had a quick wit and an infectious smile. She was a passionate soul who wanted to always do the right thing - and do it the right way! Later in life Betty and Nathan were divorced and Betty married Jim Daniels of Oelwein. Betty and Jim lived in Maynard. Betty is survived by: Sons: Steve Bly - Atlanta, Georgia (Spouse: Tracey Fontana Bly) Scott Bly - Mooresville, North Carolina (Spouse: Carolyn Hurd Bly) Rick Bly - North Liberty, Iowa (Spouse: Jeanie Kimbel Bly) Rob Bly - Independence, Iowa (Spouse: Andrea Mayo Bly) Grandchildren: Robert Nathan Bly, Megan Beth Bly, Tyler James Bly, Jessica Richelle Bly, Rhianna Lea Bly and Izabelle Abigail Bly. And one great-grandchild, Kyler Michael Bly Siblings: Lou Ann Kappmeyer - Liberty, Missouri, Glenda Theilbert - Muscatine, Iowa, Jim Nicholson (Spouse: Janice) - Oelwein, Iowa. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Glenn & Ruth Nicolson, her sister Carolyn (Glenn) Borland and two brothers-in-law, Raleigh Kappmeyer and Gene Thielbert.
