Corbin, 89, of Volga, Iowa died on Saturday morning, October 24, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center at West Union, Iowa Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home at Arlington, Iowa; Officiating: Pastor Rusty Phillips; Visitation: from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home and after 10:00 A.M. on Thursday; Interment: Wadena Cemetery at Wadena, Iowa A Memorial Fund has been established in her name Online Obituary at: www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Bernece is survived by: 4 Sons--Sidney (Merry) Corbin of San Antonio, Texas Dean (Arlene) Corbin of Fayette, Iowa Ronald (Shelia) Corbin of Arlington, Iowa Rodney (Verna) Corbin of Arlington, Iowa 16 Grandchildren Numerous Great Grandchildren and Several Great Great Grandchildren Brother--Duane (Norma) Gray of Waterloo, Iowa She was preceded in death by her parents--husband (Sidney Corbin on April 23, 1983)--and 2 Sisters (Geneva Doty and Dorothy Gardner). Bernece Hazel Gray was born on November 25, 1919 at Arlington, Iowa the daughter of Lester and Ethel (Spores) Gray. She graduated from Arlington High School at Arlington, Iowa in 1936. Bernece married Sidney Corbin on August 20, 1937 at Decorah, Iowa. Bernece was a homemaker and lived on a farm south of Wadena until 1978 when she moved to Volga. She was a active member of the Wadena Community Presbyterian Church and later the United Methodist Church in Volga. Bernece enjoyed sewing, gardening, and her flowers. She has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Nursing Center since December 30, 2005.
