Artis M. Lamphier, 86, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Monday morning, June 29, 2015 at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Rev. Paul C. McManus and Deacon Jim Patera officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. Parish Scripture Service: 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. A Memorial Fund has been established in her name. Online obituary at www.jamisonschmitzfuneralhome.com Artis Mae Stempfle was born August 23, 1928 in Oelwein, Iowa the daughter of Fred Joseph Stempfle, Sr. and Esther (Chapman) Stempfle. She graduated from the Maynard High School in Maynard, Iowa. On April 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald O. Lamphier at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Artis was employed for almost 30 years at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein in the Dietary Department. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Artis enjoyed going to the casino, cooking, baking, gardening, golf, watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes and most of all spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her quiet strengths. Artis is survived by her loving husband of 67 years: Donald Lamphier of Oelwein; 5 children: Nancy Naslund of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Vicki (Don) Van Engelenburg of Champaign, Illinois, Glenda (Mike) Hesse of Fairbank, Mark (Deb) Lamphier of Oelwein and Kevin (Katrina) Lamphier of Spring, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Janice Lamphier of Strawberry Point; 1 brother, Fred Stempfle of Rockford, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Terry Lamphier; 2 sons-in-law: Tom Brown and Corey Naslund; 1 brother: Bernard Stempfle; and 2 sisters: Pearl Clark and Arlene Van Denover.
