Anna Mae Strawn, 92, of Oelwein, Iowa, died peacefully on Thursday morning, May 5, 2022, at Oelwein Health Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 9, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Rev. Ray Atwood officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.

Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

Anna Mae Yolanda Hermsen was born on May 5, 1930, in Holy Cross, Iowa, the daughter of Alphonse & Olivia (Wernke) Hermsen. She was raised at rural Independence and graduated from St. John Catholic High School in Independence in the class of 1948. Anna Mae was united in marriage to Delbert John Strawn on November 19, 1951, at St. John Catholic Church in Independence, Iowa. The family made their home in Oelwein. Anna Mae was a devoted wife and mother, raising her five children. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Rosary Society. Anna Mae enjoyed her membership in the Oelwein Bowling League where she could spend time with her friends. In her retirement, she enjoyed shopping, trips to the casino, flower gardening and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Anna Mae is survived by her Daughter: Christine (Steve) Masters of Oelwein; 2 Sons: David (Cherri) Strawn of Independence & Rick Strawn (Jill Friedrich) of Ankeny; 4 Grandchildren: Laurie (Chris) Bognar, Trisha Haskovec, Mitch (Kellie) Masters and Nicole (Ben) Reiff; 2 Step-Grandchildren: Patty Kane and Chrissy (Brett) Corkery; 10 Great Grandchildren; 5 Step-Great Grandchildren and the extended members of the Hermsen and Strawn families.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Delbert on February 3, 2006, 2 sons: Jerry and Steve and 5 siblings: Merlin Hermsen, Kenneth Hermsen, Vera Hickey, Jim Hermsen and John Hermsen.
